What Are Facial Chemical Peels?
A facial chemical peel removes the damaged outer layers of the skin and cause them to slough off and peel away. It enhances and smoothes the texture of the skin.
Phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) are most commonly used for facial chemical peels. Dr. Brenza will adjust the formula to suit each patient’s needs.
Chemical facial peels are ideal for those with:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun-damaged skin
- Mild to deep acne scars
- Uneven or rough textured skin
- Dull skin tone
It is critical to find a physician who has sufficient training in this field. Ageless Skin and Laser Center’s Dr. Brenza has a high level of experience performing this procedure for many years in New Jersey.
How are chemical facial peels performed?
Depending on the degree of the peel, this procedure is non-invasive and has a quick administration. Light or “lunch hour” peels are the mildest and work on the outer layers of the skin to smooth out fine wrinkles or dry skin.
These peels do not require sedation or anesthesia since the patient only experiences a slight stinging after the solution is applied. The treatment usually takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes, but Dr. Brenza may vary the concentration of the chemical solution or the length of time of the treatment.
